Biography
He completed his LLB from Law College, Lahore, and started practice at the District Courts, Patiala in the year 1936. In 1952, he was a Rajya Sabha member in the first Parliament of India and was re-elected in 1958. He was designated as Senior Advocate by The Hon'ble Supreme Court in 1954. He was appointed as Advocate General of Punjab in 1964 and thereafter was elevated as a Judge of the Punjab High Court in 1966 from where he resigned in 1967 and resumed his practice. He was re-appointed as Advocate General, Haryana from 6th of February 1970 till 14th June, 1976. Later, he served as Governor of Bihar from 1976 to 1979. He was also elected as a Member of the Lok Sabha in 1980 from Chandigarh and was inducted as a Union Minister of Law, Justice, and Company Affairs in the year 1982 to 1985. Indeed, Sh. Kaushal has had a long and illustrious career, both in the fields of Law and Politics.
