Biography
Sh. Sushil Chand Mohunta was born on 26th April, 1929 at Sirsa, Haryana. After partition, he came to Delhi and did his B.Sc. from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi, and LL.B from Delhi University. In 1977, he was appointed as Advocate General, Haryana, and continued up to June 1979. Thereafter, he was designated as Senior Advocate in the Punjab and Haryana High Court, and from 1980 to 1986 he served as a member of Rajya Sabha. During his stint as a member of the Rajya Sabha, he was a prominent member of different delegations and represented India in conferences held in Paris as well as in Seoul, Korea. In 1988, he was again appointed as Advocate General, Haryana, and continued in office up to 1991. His son Justice Ashutosh Mohunta practiced as a successful lawyer in the High Court of Punjab and Haryana before being elevated to the Bench and retired as such on 24.2.2015.
